  • Revolution Race Cars: Starting a Revolution

Presented by Revolution Race Cars – Revolution is the British race car company making an impact on the world stage. Just two years ago, Revolution’s A-One sports prototype made its debut in the UK Sports Prototype Cup and one year later, nineteen drivers took to the grid at the Portuguese F1 Grand Prix support race. But that was just the start. Already, six Revolution A-Ones have been imported into the USA, creating a storm on the track day scene and a North American championship is on the cards later this year.

Revolution may be a new name, but it has an experienced team led by Radical Sportscars founder Phil Abbott.

“Since our first F1 support race, our customer enquiries have increased four-fold,” said Abbott. “Everybody who has ever bought a sports-racing car in America seems to have contacted us recently. The interest has gone global because we’ve put ourselves on the right stage.”

A new type of track car – for amateur fun or serious racing.

The A-One is a prototype sports racer designed to fill the gap between traditional spaceframe chassis cars and the costly, full-blooded LMP machinery of the IMSA series. The A-One features a carbon tub, carbon floor and bodywork, weighs just 795kg and boasts a 427 hp 3.7-liter V6 with a six-speed paddle shift gearbox at its heart. The result is a fulsome 512 bhp per tonne.

“Instead of trying to make a new Radical or something similar, we’ve created an LMP-type car at half an LMP3 price,” explains Abbott. “For owners of older tech spaceframe cars, it’s a huge step to move up to something like an LMP chassis, and there are always customers wanting to step into something faster, safer, more progressive.”

    Driving forward in North America.

With two dealers already appointed in the USA, (Revolution RSR in San Diego and Esses Racing in Austin), Revolution is well placed to grow. This year, more agents will be appointed in the USA. A partnership with duPont Registry has been established to showcase the A-One at Amelia Island, Pebble Beach and the Barrett Jackson events in Scottsdale and Las Vegas.

  • Johnny Gray’s $32.5 Million Listing Has 25-Car Garage and Megayacht Dockage

Automobilists and yachters alike are sure to swoon over retired race car driver, Johnny Gray’s, $32.5 million listing that just hit the market last week. The insane 30,000-square-foot sprawling estate is sited on a double lot, which is almost unheard of in its private enclave. The listing is also the largest and most expensive ever to be offered in the area. It has 365 feet of protected water frontage to accommodate a megayacht, as well as a garage that can fit more than 25 cars.

Tucked away in the exclusive Admiral’s Cove neighborhood of Jupiter, FL, the trophy property was built by Sebastian Smallegange of Turtle Beach Construction in 2016. It is now listed with Robert Thomson of Waterfront Properties and Club Communities.

The home took about two years to complete and was built with watertight, mold-proof materials at a high elevation. Gray purchased the listing in 2013 for $7.34 million and spent additional millions to tear down the existing house and turn it into his dream home with every amenity he could imagine.

Parking for his vehicles was obviously a priority for Gray, reflected in the expansive climate-controlled, 25+-car garage. Black and white checkered granite floors adorn the space, which is equipped with three double lifts, a mechanic’s lift and air hoses throughout. There’s also space for a 45-foot-long motor coach. Although the home is being offered fully-furnished, unfortunately the cars aren’t staying, says Thomson.

Oversized loggias with televisions, a resort-style pool with swim-up bar, sunken kitchen, spas, bridges, waterfalls and fire features all overlook the Intracoastal. Inside, there are six bedrooms and ten bathrooms, including a master suite fit for royalty and five additional suites with custom baths. Luxe amenities and high-end materials are featured throughout the home, along with fine finishes and fixtures.

Notable rooms are the custom theater room designed by an associate of George Lucas, which doubles as a safe room and features a twilight sky, a pub-style bar and game room with aquarium, and a trophy room.

  • Special Edition Embraer Private Jet Comes With Matching Porsche 911 Turbo S

Porsche and Embraer have teamed up for what looks to be the most exciting collaboration between an automaker and an aviation company. The name of this cooperation is “Duet” and that’s because it involves a duo of sporty creations from both brands. When a customer opts to buy a special edition Embraer Phenom 300E business jet, they also can purchase a matching Porsche 911 Turbo S. If you’re in the market for both a jet and sports car, this is the perfect deal for you.

“Porsche and Embraer share a host of common values,” says Alexander Fabig, Head of Personalisation and Classic at Porsche. “As part of our cooperation, we are using the know-how of both brands to jointly develop a one-of-a-kind duo of sports car and jet that appeals to both customer groups.”

The Porsche that comes with the purchase of the jet is an absolute stunner and will be highly sought after. It features an exterior donning a Platinum Silver Metallic gloss paint on the upper portion with matte Jet Gray Metallic down below and trim strips in Brilliant Chrome and Speed blue in between the two. The visual created by this paintwork is visually pleasing to say the least but when parked next to the matching jet, the visual is enhanced even more. The cherry on top for the exterior has to be the rear wing which has the registration of the respective jet on the underside. Now that’s just too cool.

Inside the Porsche is an interior that matches the cabin and cockpit of the Phenom 300E. A two-tone black and chalk leather can be found throughout the cabin, especially on the seats. On the headrests, one will find the Duet logo that Embraer and Porsche created together. A feature that really brings the cabin altogether is the illuminated “No Step lettering on the door sill trim.

On top of receiving a special edition Porsche 911 Turbo S, buyers will get even more luxurious items. First up is the Porsche Design luggage set that includes a pilot’s case and two weekender bags. And then there’s the Porsche Design 1919 Globetimer UTC watch that matches 911 Turbo S.

Only ten examples of this special edition “Duet” Porsche 911 Turbo S will be created, so don’t expect to see them often or even at all. That being said, if you do want to have an exclusive collection of luxury goods that all match together, does it get any better than this?

  • Feature: Summer Road Trip on Sunshine Now Possible

Solar-Powered Fast Charger Installed for True Zero Emission Driving

The vision of true zero emission transportation sounds simple. Produce your electricity from solar or wind sources and use it to power a fully electric car. Getting to that to happen in the real world is more difficult, but a main highway in California is leading the way.

Envision Solar EV ARC solar charger

Charging on sunshine on the road

The San Luis Obispo Air Pollution Control District and Caltrans partnered with Envision Solar to set up a solar-powered DC fast-charging system at a rest area on California Highway 46, a main east-west highway connected the Central Coast with the San Joaquin Valley. Envision Solar’s EV ARC system was installed at the Shandon rest area, near the junction of Highways 41 and 46, famous as the area where James Dean met his end in a fatal car crash.

Because the Envision Solar system doesn’t require any grid upgrade, it’s ideal for remote locations like this rest stop, where it can offer EV drivers the opportunity for a quick recharge. The system draws the majority of its power from the sun and was deployed with minimal construction costs since it’s a self-contained unit. The EV ARC can be deployed without trenching, foundations or any kind of installation.

Each individual unit in the Shandon deployment (which includes four units) has a six-kilowatt panel fed by the sun from a tracking array on top of the unit. Electricity is stored for use when needed. The tracking solar panel can generate 25 percent more electricity than a fixed array.

A similar deployment can be found on the side of U.S. Highway 101 north of San Luis Obispo at another rural rest stop. Envision Solar now has more than 100 customers for its products. The company has found a home with public and private electric fleets around the country and is expected to continue to grow, according to CEO Desmond Wheatley.

    Game Changer Product Next

Wheatley added that the company’s game changer product just received a patent this year. Called the EV Standard, the product could be seen as a replacement streetlamp—or a new way to provide light and electric power.

    Envision Solar EV Standard

    EV Standard Up Next

Wheatley sees the EV Standard as the “transformational” tool that can provide ubiquitous charging for those who don’t have access home or work charging—or just need a boost while out and about. It combines solar, wind and utility-generated electricity in a bank of integrated batteries. Wheatley said most existing streetlamps don’t carry the capacity to provide a real charge for an EV without a substantial upgrade, but the EV Standard with its additional power sources and storage will be able to do the job.

The EV Standard comes with a state-of-the-art high-lumens, low-consumption LED light and will provide Level 2 charging. Most of the juice for charging will come from the wind and solar part of the system. In the same way the EV ARC found a home in emergency services, the EV Standard also will be capable of providing lighting and power to IoT-connected devices, even if the grid is down.

The EV Standard product promises to supply the volume that’s so important to the growth of a small public company like Envision Solar. Wheatley hinted that more is coming soon from the company as part of a rebranding move, so stay tune for the next chapter that may be bringing solar power and EV charging to a streetlamp near you.

  • 2019 Porsche Speedster Heading to Mecum Auctions Indianapolis

Sequence Build No. 1,373 out of a total limited production output of just 1,948 examples, this 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster is in “as-new” condition with just 113 original miles. Optioned with the Heritage Design Package, a $24,510 extra, it features two-tone leather interior appointment, black brake calipers with white “PORSCHE” script, gold “SPEEDSTER” badging, classic Porsche crests and silver-colored wheels. Although it shares the Speedster namesake with the four previous generations that exemplified the minimalist sports car ethos, the 2019 Speedster is a far more radical and testosterone-infused machine.

Beneath the classic Speedster wide body with a low, raked-back windshield, a double-bubble rear decklid and aggressively designed front and rear fascia is a competition-proven chassis, drivetrain, suspension and braking system sourced directly from the GT3 Touring model. The engine is a naturally aspirated 4.0L flat-6 producing 502 HP with some additional bits taken from the GT3 R including individual throttle bodies, a high-pressure injection system and a lightweight exhaust. The Speedster is offered exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox (PDK is not an option) sourced from the 911R. The suspension rides on a staggered set of center-lock wheels, 21-inch rear and 20-inch front, mounted on steamroller-sized low aspect ratio Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. The GT3 Touring suspension used on the Speedster is a more compliant setup than that of its razor-edged GT3 RS brethren. Hence, the ride is firm but supple while delivering massive cornering grip.

It is generously equipped with automatic climate control, Bose surround sound, Sport Chrono Package, rearview camera, Porsche Torque Vectoring, Porsche Stability Management, Porsche Active Suspension Management, carbon-ceramic brakes, carbon fiber hood, carbon fiber composite bucket seats, front axle lift system, online navigation, Porsche embossed crest in the headrests and power locks, windows and mirrors.
